Why we do this
- So more people and guests come to the centre and every building sparks curiosity.
- A city becomes beautiful through its people, not through advertising.
- Your pictures become short videos, an exhibition and a calendar – and Gera becomes visible far beyond the city.

Special theme: made by locals
Show what residents have made more beautiful themselves: a well-kept courtyard, a balcony full of flowers, a restored façade, a mural, a tidied-up playground. The jury gives special consideration to entries on this theme.
How to take part
- 1
Pick one place in Gera: a building, a square, a view.
- 2
Photograph it from different angles: overall view, detail, unusual perspective. Portrait format is ideal.
- 3
You can take part with 1 to 10 photos of the same place OR a video of 10 to 60 seconds (no music) OR both. The series are turned into short videos.

One entry per person per round. Free of charge and no booking required.

Photo of the Year
After the autumn round the jury picks the Photo of the Year from the four season winners: 2 nights for 2 and the cover of the following year's Gera Tours calendar.
What does the jury look for?
Idea · visual impact · link to the theme · history of the place
Places 1–3 are awarded by the jury. You choose the audience favourite: everyone can vote, one vote per email address per round.
The rounds
The contest follows the seasons: winter, spring, summer and autumn. The first round “Our Gera” is the winter round – winners are announced at the end of February 2027. After the autumn round we choose the Photo of the Year.
